Thye Moh Chan Cake House and Malay Village: Farewell

Thye Moh Chan Cake House 泰茂栈饼家 in Geylang closed its doors in September 2011, and Singapore bid farewell to another old establishment.
Changing times and the difficulty of getting helpers may have contributed to the closure of traditional eateries.  It won't be the last.  There is a need for all establishments to innovate and keep up with time......

(Afternote:  Since the posting, Breadtalk has bought over the cake house and it has opened one outlet in Chinatown point.  See blog entry:

Another venue that closed its door is the Malay Village.  It was supposed to be the place to learn more about Malay culture.

The Malay Village looked isolated during its latter period.  It is a pity as it definitely has potential.

I did not have much sentiments though as it is a project that was not executed well.  Hopefully the proposed Malay-themed project on the same time would be an improvement.  But here's one last look at the place.
