70th Anniversary of the Fall of Singapore

15 Feb 2012 marked the 70th Anniversary of Singapore.  70 years ago, the surrender came during the Chinese New Year period and few months of battle in and around Singapore since December 1941.   Lives changed for everyone for the next 3 over years.

A ceremony at the Civilian War Memorial was held to remember the numerous people who died, and many were buried under the memorial structure.    The Memorial was unveiled on 15 Feb 1967, 25 years after the fall of Singapore.  It was partly funded by the government and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The photos were taken after the event.

Let's hope everyone will remember this part of history....
