Leo Hee Tong Solo Exhibition – Flight of Fantasy



Second generation locally born Singapore painter Leo Hee Tong 梁其栋 held his solo exhibition “Flight of Fantasy- 梦幻之航”at the Dahlia Gallery at Pagoda Street. 


















Leo Hee Tong was born 1940 in Singapore.  He studied at Nanyang Fine Art College from 1957 to 1960.  Upon graduation, he worked in a community centre and taught art part time.  He was given a scholarship to study at the Ashiya Art College in Japan from 1973 to 1974, and his style started to develop after his studies.   A frequent prize winners at art competitions, Mr Leo won 9 Distinction Awards at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition.  He was commissioned by the Istana (Singapore) to produce 3 paintings for the reception hall.


One of the common objects painted by Leo was doves in semi-abstract forms.  His paintings have a snow-flakes or frost like effect, which he developed upon his return from Japan in the 1970s.

Mr Leo's works have been collected by several private and public collections including the Istana,  the National Arts Council, the Singapore Art Museum, the Fukuoka Culture Foundation, Arab Asian Bank, Bahrain, DBS, UOB, National Library of Singapore etc.
