This was my first Singapore Garden Festival, which used to be at Suntec and now moved to Garden By the Bay this year. I also took the opportunity to visit the Flower Dome, where the orchid display was held. On a weekday, there were many local and foreign visitors, including school groups.
There was a queue to enter the orchid exhibition area but fortunately we did not have to wait long. One suggestion to the organiser would be to spread out the displays as it was rather cramped inside. The orchids were of different varieties and beautiful to look at.
Inside a circular dome-shaped structure (see first picture), there were flowers arranged beautifully.
We spent around 40 minutes at the Flower Dome and after lunch, we proceeded to the second exhibition area near the outdoor stage. We paid $2 for the mini-cart (or bus?), which entitled us to 3 rides during the Festival period (instead of 2). A white tent was erected to house various sections of the exhibitions.
One section was the Fantasy Section:
..and other categories....
There was an interesting display of bonsai too.
We spent about 3 hours at the Garden Festival, including lunch break. While the exhibits were generally engaging, the festival seemed to lack a focus and the various categories or sections could be better linked.
The signages could also be improved. For example, having a map of the various displays at the main walkway outside Bayfront MRT Station, and listing the admission price and transport cost clearly.. Dining options could be indicated as well as we were not aware that there were more restaurants out of Flower Dome. Having said that, I was glad to finally make it to the Garden Festival.
