Daniel Francis and Wendy Kueh took on the respective roles admirably. However, I could not feel how Othelllo turned into a jealous husband, or the innocence of Desdemona. Nonetheless, these are minor comments.
The star of the production must beDaniel Jenkins, who played the scheming villain Iago. He held the audience (mostly students)'s attention and we followed his evil deeds that resulted in tragic events. He was supported beautifully by Zura Johnson, who played Iago's wfie Emilia. Zura Johnson was good in the scene when she discovered that her small act of stealing Desdemona's handkerchief resulted in terrible consequences. While Stephen Whiley delivered the lines of Cassio well, I cannot help but think that he looked more like a college student than a soldier.
Overall, this is another well produced work by Singapore Repertory Theatre: good cast, impressive set (look like an army barrack), and good technical support. Recommended to spend an evening in the park with the Bard.
