Art Stage 2013 @ Marina Bay Sands, Singapore (Southeast Asia Part 2)

Malaysian artist Zulkifli Yusoff was represented by T.H.E.O Arts.  His work Rukunegara (National Principles) explored the makings of Malaysia/ Malaya.

His work featured 3D  collages displayed on the walls, and 2 sculptures on the floor.

On closer look, the work featured written words of oath, pledge of countries, including Singapore.

Whitespace Gallery presented Thai Maitree Siriboon's Rice is Art.

Through his act of collecting rice from his hometown, Maitree talks about communal involvemnt in art or in the society.

The rice was flown into Singapore, and weighs few hundred kilograms.  It was a big sacrifice for the villagers as most of them were not well to do.

The last piece of work was by Filipino Vermont Coronel JR, presented by The Drawing Room.

Vermont Coronel JR is a street artist and from the write-up, his favourite medium is stencils.    This is a close-up shot of his work.

This is a well curated tour, and our guide Julia was knowledgeable in her work.   And of course, these works are more suited for the museum collection.
