In the Curve of the Wanton Sea

This production was a collaborative effort by a group of artists called Seven-Headed Dragon.  It is a story about 2 men sailing in the ocean and they rescued an unconscious man from the sea.  From that moment on, they were confronted with events related to their past, and maybe the future.

The storyline is interesting but playwright Zizi Azah included too many subplots which may cause some confusion to the audience. Some segments that addressed issues on Singapore did not gel with the overall plot.

The performers Najib Soiman, Rizman Putra, Norisham Osman and Mohd Fared Jainal gave engaging performances and held the audience's attention.  The multimedia installation by Choy Ka Fai provided a good visual and atmospheric element to the storyline.

While this production may be slightly over ambitious in what it wishes to attain, I can sense the sincerity of this collaboration.   With some modifications to the script and staging, it could be ready for second staging.
