The Phantom (of the Opera) resides in Mastercard Theatres, Singapore

It has been more than 20 years since I last saw Phantom of the Opera in London.  I did not enjoy that performance much, probably I was seated in circle 2 and maybe the energy of the actors on that matinee performance was not high.

The Chandelier, the key prop of the musical, started the musical proper.

And Monkey the musical box, which plays a familiar tune.

But of course, we are here to listen to the music of Andrew Llyod Webber and also the cast.  The role of Phantom is played by Brad Little, who has played the role over 2,250 times.  On that evening of performance, he was in great form and touched our hearts, in particular the ending.  Brad Little and Claire Lyon (as Christine) had good chemistry on stage.

While Claire Lyon is a relatively newcomer, she sang and performed the role well.  Claire is one of the few actresses who was involved in both the Phantom of the Opera and the sequel "Love Never Dies".

Anthony Downing is good as Raoul.  However, there isn't much sparks between him and Claire.

The ensemble is definitely strong for this Singapore production.

I definitely enjoyed this version to the one years back. Even though I still find certain parts of the musical draggy, overall I had an good evening out.  A well executed production.
