This blog includes my 2 interests: attending arts performances and travels. It serves as a documentation of the Singapore arts and culture scene. For my travels, I hope my experience will make your next trip more fruitful and enjoyable.

The Three Little Pigs, SRT's The Little Company
This production marks Singapore Repertory Theatre's first foray into Chinese language theatre. This children's production was written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and adapted into Mandarin by Danny Yeo and Xiaohan.
As in other SRT productions, this production is slick. The cast delivers, in particular George Chan in the role of Big Bad Wolf. Overall, a more enjoyable performance than SRT;s previous English staging of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.
The show however has problems explaining the death of the Wolf, and the need for the Wolf to eating the pigs. The Mandarin dialogue and songs were generally good, though at times I wonder if the words used are too difficult for the young audience.
Nonetheless, this is a good effort by SRT and let's hope that it will bring more good quality Chinese language productions to the Singapore stage.
