The program featured mostly contemporary works but still accessible to majority of audience. Pieces like "Yin" incorporated videography and Anecdotic Drawing had Faye Tan doing a solo dance. First half was more challenging in terms of song choices. While Chen Yi's As in Dream was chosen as the name of this performance, it was the least favourite to me.
I found the second half to be the highlight of the concert. The Scenery of Xiao and Xiang Rivers were an enjoyable piece played by Chua Yew Kok, Chin Yen Choong and Yvonne Tay.
The ensemble came in for the last 2 pieces Song of the Pipa and Breaking Dawn, where Chua's pipa string snapped during the former. The evening ended beautifully with Breaking Dawn, which I believe was a commissioned piece.
A good effort by Ding Yi Music Company, and hope more audience will hear of this promising group.
