Sri Lanka Day 1: Abhayagiri Dagoba, Samadhi Buddha and Twin Ponds

We proceeded to Abhayagiri Dagoba next.  It was getting hot under the midday sun, so I just took photos from afar and did not walk round it.

Abhayagiri Dagoba is as large as the Jetavanarama Dagoba.  The only difference is that there was a pond in front of the Abhayagiri Dagoba.

If you have time constraints, you could give this place a miss, though (it is near to every site).

Not too far from it is the seated Samadhi Buddha,  a beautiful and well preserved statue.

And last stop for the morning was the twin ponds (kuttam pokuna), ritual bathing pools used by the monks of the Dagoba Monastry.

In a morning, you could visit quite a number of sites in Anuradhapura, including the major ones such as Jetavanarama Dagova, Ruwanweli Dagoba, the Maha Bodhi Tree and the Samadhi Buddha Statue.  Leave early to visit these sites so that to avoid the sun.
