Sri Lanka Day 1: Mirisawetiya Dagoba & Places to Eat, Anuradhapura

We made a stop at Mirisawetiya Dagoba.  Another big dagoba...and I was starting to have an overdose of them.

In Sri Lanka, there are many "tanks", or what could be termed as reservoir or man-made lake.  These tanks were used for drinking and also for agriculture purposes.  Most of them are still in use by the farming communities.

That was how my one day in Anuradhapura went.

In terms of food, we had buffet lunch at Cadjan Restaurant of the Grand Tourist Holiday Resorts.  The food was alright and the price was reasonable (US$10 per person).

What was worth the trip was the view.  On that day, a wedding was also held there.

We ate at Casserole Restaurant in town, as recommended by guidebooks and on some websites.

On that evening, the restaurant was not crowded.  The food was good.  We had 2 set dinners: rice with a few dishes.  In Sri Lanka, the fried rice (or rice) portion is big enough for 2 persons to share.  Therefore, if you do not have a big appetite, you could order one fried rice and another appetiser. It should be more than sufficient.

There is a supermarket downstairs where you could stock up drinks and snacks.

First day in Sri Lanka was tiring (night flight) and hot (weather), but we had a good day out.  Anuradhapura is definitely worth a visit if you like herirage and historical sites.
